The Maynooth Autism Friendly Town (MAFT) initiative is delighted to present a Sensory Tour of Maynooth Castle, developed in collaboration with the Office of Public Works (OPW), Maynooth University, and the Maynooth 850 group.
This unique project aims to make one of Maynooth’s most important historic landmarks more accessible and welcoming for autistic visitors, individuals with sensory sensitivities, families, and the wider community. Through sensory-aware guidance and inclusive design, the tour encourages visitors to experience Maynooth Castle in a comfortable, engaging, and meaningful way.
By combining heritage, education, and accessibility, the Sensory Tour reflects MAFT’s ongoing commitment to creating a more inclusive town where everyone can participate in and enjoy local culture and history.
Maynooth Castle has its own Communication Board for all members of the public to use.
